The issues with caulk.
Acrylic, silicone and latex caulks are widely used since they are easy to work with. But, they pose serious performance issues. In dry settings it dries up, peels and cracks. In wet settings, on being exposed to moisture, caulk re-emulsifies, softens, peels, wash’s out of the joints, turning black in color from mold and mildew. It isn’t chemical resistant and loses its bond due to scrubbing, which in turn allows moisture to soak in, creating mold!

Re-caulking is a temporary fix not a cure. Mold and mildew can be controlled by waterproofing the corners with Sentura and sealing the grout with Caponi®. Why does D'Sapone® apply Sentura?
Sentura is more powerful than any caulk. It resists chemicals and will never peel.
Why is re-caulking not a good idea?
Over 12 years ago, we tried almost all types of caulks, but we got call backs in return within 6 months. Re-caulking is not a permanent cure as it invites the same issue again.
My shower caulk molds so fast, why?
Your shower gets 414 times extra water than your roof. It is the most extreme environment in a home with all the moisture, where caulk cannot last more than six months. We use Sentura, which is specially designed and intended for these environments.
