The growth of efflorescence in showers is nothing short of a burden. The migration of soluble salts that originate from masonry causes efflorescence. If the efflorescence is not eliminated with a quality product, then it can also crack the tile and grout while clogging the shower drain.

Both of these products work with each other and deliver a waterproofed shower.

How efflorescence grows in showers?
This diagram, displays how your shower is constructed when you have efflorescence issues or in some cases mold problems. The top of the mud bed (concrete) is not protected with a waterproofing membrane. Underneath the mud bed, there is no pre-slope. Without either of these steps, water will not drain to the weep holes and the mud bed will not dry out. Efflorescence can crack the grout lines and tiles. Once we repair the crack, it’s highly recommended to seal the grout with Caponi® and all the corners with Sentura – which would waterproof the shower.

What does efflorescence look like?
Efflorescence looks like a whitish grout, which occurs in your grout and on top of your tile.
Why does efflorescence grow on my shower floor?
Your shower has not been installed correctly and it is allowing water to dwell within the tile, feeding the minerals in the concrete mud bed. The minerals take birth in your shower drain via the weep holes. Then, it grows on your tile and grout.
Can efflorescence be removed?
